Lyon

While at the Lyon holding center, the logistics of our unaccompanied return trip, to our French home in Ste-Lizaigne, was arranged.

War continued in the northern areas of France and throughout the Reich—Großdeutschland—although it was a given by this time that the days of German occupation of France were over.

We were handed three rail tickets, from Lyon to Châteauroux, with instructions to keep an eye on a young fellow our age who was in a constant state of panic; recent events had no doubt affected him and he could not function on his own.

The fact that my brother and I had been together throughout these events had, without a doubt, helped us in coping with this life crisis.
