he eldest, a son born in 1884, our father Ludwig David, thus became the head of the household and foster father to his seven siblings: Albert, Alfred, Else, Antoinette (Toni), Paula, Alma and the youngest, Jakob, 10 years old.
As head of the family, a responsibility he took very seriously, he saw to it that his siblings obtained an education, established themselves as useful members of society and, in the case of his sisters, married similarly-situated young men.
